Al Brock was born in Denver and grew up living next door to a legendary Denver Radio DJ. By the time he was 13 years old, Al had officially began his career in radio. He was definitely hooked and it wasn’t long before he worked his way up to being a disc jockey.
As his career progressed, he continued to move up the ranks to program director and various other management roles. He worked in multiple genres in cities all over the country including Tampa, Orlando, St Louis, Indianapolis, Providence, and Richmond, eventually landing in Nashville which is now where he calls home. With a career that has now spanned 50 years, Al has been witness to the continual change and evolution of radio and the music industry.
When he started as a DJ he played vinyl records. Vinyl gave way to tapes, both cartridge and reel-to-reel, which later morphed into CDs, then MP3s, and finally now everything is digital. His first few years as a program director had him drawing up music schedules with pencil and paper.
Of course, that is all computerized now as well. While the mechanics of his job have changed over the years, the one constant for Al that has not changed is his allure for the music. “It has always been about the music,” says Al. “It always starts with a great song!” In 2010, Al began another chapter of his career when he moved out of radio and into radio promotion by founding Spin Doctors Music Group.
His goal for the company was to provide a comfortable place of support for new and independent artists who might not otherwise fit in the mainstream music scene. Not one to rest on his laurels, Al has another project in the works that he is excited about. He has developed his own internet radio station which will stream classic music from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. The station will be fueled by his huge music collection which includes every pop song ever released from 1956-1987. His station is set to launch soon – stay tuned.

Kristin Johnson (Exec VP/COO)
Kristin was born in Virginia Beach, VA but grew up all over the United States. With a father
who worked in radio it’s no surprise that Kristin gravitated toward the family business. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Recording Industry Management.
She has over 10 years of radio experience including working on air and also in the Promotions department at Sony Music. In 2010 she co-founded Spin Doctors Music Group with Industry veteran Al Brock and serves as the Chief Operating Officer overseeing the day-to-day operations. With a passion for music and the music industry, she likes to be involved in many ways including being a member of Solid (Society of Leaders in Development).
Solid is an organization that addresses the changing needs and development of music business professionals and is dedicated to improving the future success of the industry. Kristin is fearless, passionate and a huge advocate for her clients, the awesome music, and our company. She handles all the management and business aspects of an artist’s career, and is a huge advocate for new and emerging artists of all genres.
